Because of loss of workshop/garage. This Land Rover has just completed a four year refurbishment involving.
Chassis stripped and using parts from a donor chassis, and from the Radford brothers of Aberdeen, professionally rebuilt to exacting standards, shot blasted and powder coated and the hollow sections sprayed. He bulkhead is the original item that has been rebuilt by a professional series 1 restorer in the Land Rover series 1 club. He engine, from an early Sd1, has been completely rebuilt. The crankshaft main bearings are -0.20 and the big ends are. 0.1, the bores were honed and the pistons are standard size.
New ERR 5924 camshaft, new core plugs, heads overhauled. Gearbox was completely dismantled, any parts needing replacement were replaced and meticulously rebuilt together with the transfer box, front output shaft, handbrake assembly and the overdrive. New front and rear propshafts and rebuilt Range Rover 3.54:1 diffs. Parabolic springs and bushes together with Pro Comp shock absorbers.
Both SU carbs were refurbished, new aluminium cored radiator with thermo activated cooling fan, new hoses. Fitted with Rover coolant header tank.
Complete braking system replaced and filled with silicon brake fluid. All the cappings re-galvanised, the body has been resprayed, the seats are good as is the cab and instruments, there is a new high quality tilt and fume curtain.
The wheels are wider than standard and fitted with 7.50 x 16 Michelin XZL tyres with plenty of life left in them. Steering relay internals all renewed. The vehicle has been rewired with a Autosparks wiring loom and there is a rare Roto-Flare spot light fitted to the front, the reflector of which can be swivelled from a handle in the cab. New side, rear and indicator lights. The fuel tank has been replaced recently.
There is an electric fuel pump. Twin bench seats in the rear, so seating for 7. It drives very nicely for a Series 1 Land Rover and with the Rover V8 has a bit more power and speed.
With the tilt removed a five minute job and the door tops off and windscreen folded flat it can be hilarious! As you have probably gathered, this is not a car for the purists and rivet counters, but is a great deal of fun to own and drive and certainly turns a few heads and draws compliments.
It is by no means concours or a trailer queen. It was built to drive and have fun in and it delivers this in spades. The exhaust note is restrained but wonderful.
I would urge anyone interested in my car to come and view it. I will accompany anyone on a test drive. I'm not desperate to sell as the.So a sensible offer will certainly be considered. Preferably by BACS either before or at the time of collection. All payments to be cleared before it becomes yours. If you have read all of this, well done!
