This Land Rover Series 2A has been on the same farm since it was new. It was the daily farm and shoot vehicle until it was replaced and parked up in a Dutch barn almost 40 years ago, where it remained until I picked it yesterday. It clearly needs restoration - principally a replacement chassis. The rear crossmember and section forward of the bulkhead are OK but the rest is pretty shot at. The bulkhead will require plating or replacement. The rear door has been misplaced, too. If it turns up it's thought to be stood against the wall behind decades worth of firewood.
It's all expected to be cleared out over the next week or so, it will be included. I have not yet attempted to start it, although I will later on this week. The engine is free turning, so I'll clean the carburettor and the points and see how it runs. Please let me know as soon as possible if you would like to be present on first startup, if you're genuinely interested in seeing it in person. It has only done 67,136 miles.
The logbook was misplaced years ago so a new one will need to be applied for. The number is still live with the DVLA. This will add me as an extra owner, though.
If you would like to have a look, give me a ring on 07763981121. I have lots more pictures available and can take more if you would like to see something specific. It may seem rather high to some, I know... But totally original, unrestored examples are very rare, now. Collection from Old Town, near Kirkby Lonsdale, on the border of South Cumbria / North Lancashire / North Yorkshire - 6 miles off J36 of the M6.
