For sale is my 1975 Series 3 SWB 2.25 litre petrol Land Rover. The car is registered as a historic vehicle and is thus both VEL and MOT exempt. Im a Land Rover enthusiast and have owned the vehicle since 2013.

Im only the third owner, the previous owner having had it from 1985. The car has always been stored in a garage and well protected against the elements. I have never taken it off-road as my intention has always been to preserve it as a classic vehicle. Engine, gearbox, axles are all original to the vehicle as is the bodywork which has that nice age related patina look about it. Foot wells and a couple of chassis outriggers were professionally replaced when I first bought the vehicle but the remainder of the chassis and bulkhead is original and solid.

On the offside of the rear crossmember near the grab handle, there is some minor corrosion as shown in the photos however, its passed every MOT despite this as the holes are not close enough to the load bearing parts of the chassis to affect its structural integrity. My intention was to have these repaired as part of a full vehicle restoration rather than replace the rear crossmember in order to preserve the otherwise sound original chassis.

The remaining body work is all solid but there are the usual age related areas of electrolytic corrosion around some of the body panel mounting and tub floor areas. Over the years I have been collecting new or replacement sections of body work including a brand new OEM inner wing and headlight panel. These themselves are very rare to find but will, along with the new outer wing panel, heated front wind screens, door tops, sill trims and a truck cab that I bought as an optional setup, will all be included in the sale. Basically, everything you see in the photos. These are holes from wear and tear and have not been drilled to fit accessories.

Work that I have done to it in my ownership has been to fit new complete wiring looms front to rear, new lights all round and fitted a Defender heater unit for improved heat and air flow. The distributor has been converted to the electronic'points less' version for reliable starting. Both front swivel balls and bearings have been replaced as have all components of the brake system. I also fitted a new exhaust and replaced the carburettor, coil, battery and fuel tank.

Ive fitted a seatbelt bar for the new set of seatbelts and replaced the original seats with a set of high backs also from from Exmoor Trim. A Wright Off-road acoustic mat is fitted to the floor and included in the sale is the section that fits to the seat base which I intended to fit post-restoration.

The vehicle came to me with a set of unbranded parabolic springs which provide a fairly decent ride for an old leafer. I have also sourced and fitted a set of very rare 6.5 rims, including the spare, which were professionally restored and painted the correct period Land Rover limestone colour. These are shod with new Goodyear Wrangler HP 235/70 R16 tyres that provide a quiet and comfortable ride with excellent grip. Interiorwise, its all original and everything works as it should.

There is a small amount of age related deterioration to the corner of the passenger side dash lower panel but I think this could be repaired by a trimmer to save the original part as replacements are very hard to find. This is a very original and complete Series 3 that will serve as an excellent base for a full restoration or to be used just as it is and will continue to appreciate in value. Of course its an old Land Rover so it does drip oil from the engine and gearbox as my garage floor will testify to. The engine smokes for a minute on initial startup but clears quickly but it starts first time every time and pulls well for its age and the gear change is good and typically characteristic of a Series motor. Please contact me if you require any additional information or detailed photographs. The vehicle is located in North Wales, about an hour from Manchester or Liverpool and can be driven away.
