The Famous Rosemary & Thyme Land Rover. Starring Felicity Kendal and Pam Ferris in the role of gardening detectives. These opportunities rarely present themselves and if you are a Land Rover lover or indeed a Rosemary & Thyme fan or maybe both!

Then heres your chance to acquire one of the Star Cast and what is probably one of the most famous and loved Land Rovers in the world! A little about Rosemary and her past. Renowned for her shabby chic look, theres no doubt that shes a little rough around the edges very rough in some places! Which can be partly attributed to her time on set when shooting the TV series.

Rosemary is an iconic Land Rover Series 3 which has led a pretty busy and somewhat interesting life as a celebrity Land Rover and started life as a forces vehicle for the fire brigade, believed to be stationed at an airport, thus the very low miles, which are believed to be genuine. Following a makeover in Green paint by the production companies make up artist, Rosemary was transformed into the much loved Land Rover that many people have come to admire and love today.

Chosen as the mode of transport for Felicy Kendal and Pam Feris in the Rosemary & Thyme TV series which is being re-run at the moment on ITV3, she appeared in every episode apart from one. The series was a huge hit, and you can often spot an episode when flicking across channels. Apparently, Felicity insisted that the producer make some minor modifications to her so that she was more comfortable when driving her, such as fitting a special seat belt because the old ones were fitted much lower down and being so slender they cut across Felicity's upper body - thats the diva for you!

Both Felicity Kendal and Pam Ferris wrote to the Flicka Foundation to whom Rosemary was donated by Felicity and mentioned that Pam did not get on too well with the gears, but Felicty loved it. The producer was delighted that she had been donated to a sanctuary as he too was apparently very fond of her. Rosemary still bears some of the random paint marks and battle scars as a result of her days on set where she would often be carrying peat and bedding plants. And then of course theres the scene where she gets rammed by a vilain who was in pursuit of Felicty and Pam in a car chase.

Following the filming of all the episodes, I'm told Felicity Kendal took possession of the Land Rover and donated her to the above mentioned Donkey Sanctuary in Cornwall where one of the episodes had been filmed. Felicity was to become a Patron for the Sanctuary. Whilst at the Sanctuary some friends of the charity carried out some work on her and re-painted her exterior. During her time at the sanctuary, she was used by the staff to take food and bedding out to the donkeys across the fields before finally being put on show in a barn for a few years.

Whilst Rosemary drives, works and runs, she does need some TLC. Not to the body panel work as such as this still resembles the shabby chic look that shes known for, but the bulkhead will need repairing or replacing and the chassis will need repairing. There are the usual patches on the chassis that youd expect on a Land Rover of this age and any work would be very worthwhile given the background of this wonderful old Landy. It would be for you to decide how far you wanted to go with her.

The engine seems to run very well and she only shows 37,000 miles on the clock. To be honest, I dont start her that often, but when I do, she turns and then fires up, usually on the 2.

Im no Land Rover expert but Im told this a rare gem because of her history... She looks brilliant too providing you like the shabby chic look of course!
