He'd also installed a 200tdi engine and under sealed the chassis. I drove Land Rover back from south of London to leeds with no issues.

Cruised at motorway speeds entire way home. Servicing, brakes, bearings, electrics, filters, new battery, alternator, oil seals, etc. The LR was drab olive but I have painted in pastel green. Interior not yet painted but I do have enough etch primer and paint for this, which I will include in sale. This is a roller and brush job on a 40year old car so, though I think it looks great and I did strip old paint and etch prime before repainting, don't be expecting an immaculate showroom finish not that anyone looking for a LR should!

Interior is as you'd expect in an old LR sparse! Though I've sprayed roof and rear to make it look a little more presentable.

There's a bench seat right rear and rubber load space mat. Spare wheel currently in boot as it does obscure vision somewhat when placed on bonnet! I've driven from leeds to east coast numerous times with no issues, LR always climbing Garrowby hill fine.

LR has 200tdi, Overdrive and freewheeling hubs so it will do >70mph. I've also towed my brothers series 2a Land Rover when he had a turbo failure. I've had this off-road down some green lanes and it performed very well. Yellow four wheel drive high range lever works fine, as does 4 wheel drive low range gearbox, however, to engage lr4wd you need to hold down yellow leaver when pulling back red lever. Usually you would just pull red lever back.

There is a current fault with LR which I haven't yet had time to fix. When driving home from office a couple of weeks ago there was some smoke out of the exhaust and then power dropped off, top speed being 10mph to limp home. I changed the turbo hoses and fuel filter then took it out for a drive, it worked fine for 20minutes but then power dropped off again and engine became lumpy.

(Or could be fuel pump/lift pump). After researching symptoms on Land Rover forums I'm sure I could diagnose and fix this myself, or have work done relatively cheaply at garage, but at this moment i don't have the time/energy to invest.

Google the symptoms yourself and you'll see that most recommendations on Land Rover forums are for fairly simple/cheap fixes. (don't be alarmed by large damp patch on drive - this is from removing a coolant hose). The reasons I've decided to put LR up for sale are. I don't have time/energy to fix LR at this moment as I have recently started a new position within the company I work for (4th in 4 years - I'm knackered). LR will therefore be sat on drive all summer.

I have a company car, which is also a 4wd, due to be replaced in Sep. I live in the city centre and don't get to countryside nearly as much as I had hoped to when I bought this LR.

My brother has a series 2a which i can use when mood takes me. This has been a fantastically fun car to own and a completely different driving experience to a modern car.

I shall be very sad to see it go. Let me know if you have any questions, want to see photos (there are plenty) or want to view the LR. I tested car last night. It turned over fine but wouldn't start so i'm now almost certain fuel or lift pump is at fault and the issue detailed in listing below was linked to lack of diesel reaching engine.
