LAND ROVER SERIES 3 - LONG WHEELBASE (K) Reg. First Reg: March 1972 and now registered as an historic vehicle - so no road fund license needed. Was originally a six cylinder petrol, but was converted some years ago to a four pot Land Rover diesel.

It has the safari roof and will seat 12, three in the front, three on the transverse seat and six on the benches at the back. It has had a replacement back cross member and some welding done at the front of the chassis. Will need some further welding for an MOT, couple of outriggers from the chassis and a small section of floor - main chassis seems sound. Oil pressure around 75 psi cold dropping to about 60 when warmed up. Fitted with Fairey Overdrive and freewheeling hubs as well as a nearly new 110 ah battery. I have the Haynes Restoration Manual, Workshop Manual for the Series IIa & III, together with the original Owners Handbook. Also a large ammo box with huge tow rope, a couple of one ton slings, starting handle and wheel brace etc. Also spares as illustrated including a set of injectors (I fitted a reconditioned set when I first got it) and spare fuel pump etc. The previous owner said it had some early history with the RAF and Ive seen some hints of what looks like yellow paint under the present finish but it could be a primer; could well have been an airfield personnel carrier might be worth researching. Mileage is shown at 95,000 which is probably right as it spent several years off the road with the previous owner and gained virtually zero mileage with me. Ive had the beast for six years, stored in a garage, with the intention or restoring it, but I have to face up to the fact that I have too many other things on the go to give this old girl the attention she needs. So Im reluctantly putting her up for sale.
