Land Rover Series 3 Lightweight Airportable

  

For sale is my recently (2012 to 2016) restored Lightweight. New projects force the sale of this British icon. The restoration include a full strip down, welding in of new front and rear chassis sections as well as all the minor welding on chassis outriggers and vent panel.

Mechanically the engine, gearbox, transfer box as well as the Fairey overdrive were all rebuilt. Axles had the usual treatment of all new seals and bearings.

Brakes received a complete overhaul with new cylinders and brake pads. Rocky Mountain parabolic springs are used to increase the ride height. All 5 tyres only have 1 years use on them.

One of the fuel tanks has been replaced etc. The current MOY expires 28.06.2019 and shows no advisories/minor defects. Ok so I would say its absolutely fabulous but there are a few issues.

Paint could be better all round. The rear seat frames are available but haven't been restored making a two seater only. The choke cable does not work, the temperature gauge is temperamental and the steering is a little vague.

The latter is probably due to the increased tyre size and tread pattern. Overall, its a great piece of kit and great fun in the current hot weather. Happy for serious buyers to view and test drive.
