Land Rover Series 3 LWB 24V FFR Project
This 1980 Land Rover has been in storage since around 1994, mainly in a barn, but the last few years it's been outside. I know on this one Im listing a lot of the bad points, but I feel that its best to be as honest as possible, so please read between the lines, as there are also lots of good points. The engine is seized and missing a 24V generator, distributor, part of the thermostat housing, fan, coil and radiator. The engine bay is missing the steering column and brake pedal box.
Gearbox is complete and can select all gears, but the clutch hydraulics are seized. The bonnet is missing, and the front wings are both a bit bent, but serviceable. The front panel is good. Offside door is missing, and nearside door is pretty poor.
Bulkhead is okay, footwells look quite good, door pillars look alright. There are rust holes just above the heater and along the top of the nearside vent. Seat box and floor pans are all okay. The rear body is pretty good inside and out.The tyres are all knackered. The dashboard isnt too bad, it's missing one clock, wiper motor and cover, steering column and box over column.
The chassis is pretty good; it will need a bulkhead outrigger and a rear crossmember. Theres a small amount of rust on front swivels but not much, and the prop shafts are missing. Duel tank system, both fuel tanks are clean and dry and the change-over tap is complete. I reckon this Land Rover is an ideal base for a rewarding project and well worth the time and effort it'll take to get it back on the road. I have the original military release document, of course this will be needed to apply for a V5 when you're at that stage. It was released from the military in 1994.Unfortunately, I don't have any keys for it. I also have more photos I can send if required.
