Land Rover Series 3 Safari
Fitted with Fairey Overdrive, Free Wheel hubs, and nearly new Seats. Wife got fed up with me in muddy boots getting into our everyday cars!! She is dual fuel with gas and petrol. To get her back on the road she has had a lot done. New Swivels new bearings throughout both axles, new track rod ends, new drag links, new hoses, Parabolic springs all round, new fuel tank, new slave cylinders, new clutch master and slave cylinder, plus hose, Seals etc. The Chassis has been plated in a couple of places and went through the MOT with no worries. She also has electronic ignition and a stainless exhaust with stainless performance manifold! There is still work to do on her to bring her back to full glory. There is a set of 5 original steel wheels with tyres (crazing a little).
Bad bits the gearbox does jump out of second and 3rd occasionally. The A (Bulkhead pillars) will need replacing. As she is used daily as a workhorse so she is not immaculate inside!!
But I had to withdraw her as the gentleman was in France, who had rebuilt the spare gearbox and I was unable to get it home in time. Of course, subject to price reached. Since today, 20/02/17, I have just learnt that there is something strange about her registration.Her chassis number comes up as a Series 2a but her engine, running gear and bulkhead etc indicate she is a Series 3. The chassis number is at the very end of production of the 2a and at start of Series 3. I bought her as a Series 3 and that is how i have known her. One thing to know now Series 2a's are worth more than 3's!! I have considerably lowered the reserve now as well as she has to go next weekend!
