Land Rover Series Fairey Overdrive

  

This listing is for a Fairey Overdrive unit to fit a Land Rover Series fitted with the original gearbox/transfer box behind the 2.25 petrol or diesel engine. It will not fit Stage 1 v8s or 1-ton variants for example. New gasket and retaining ring for where the linkage passes through the gearbox tunnel into the cab.

The clutch sleeve which replaces the output gear on the main gearbox. New lock washer for locking the clutch sleeve in place. New gasket for between the overdrive and your transfer case. New gasket for the top of the transfer box (you will need to remove this for better visibility/access when installing the clutch sleeve).

Enough ROCAL ASP to coat the splines on the Overdrive mainshaft. The full tube in the photos is not included, enough in a separate tub will be included. A copy of the original fitting instructions.

The unit has been stripped down to its individual components, cleaned, checked and then rebuilt with new parts as required. New parts used during the rebuild where. New bearing for the clutch sleeve. New brass pads on the selector fork. All new o-rings, circlips, oil seals and gaskets etc. The bearings in this unit were found to be in good serviceable condition, bearing surfaces were slightly polished but no scoring or pitting to the shafts was found.

All teeth on the gears were found to be un-chipped and in good condition. The Synchro cones were found to be in as-new condition. To fit this unit to your vehicle, beyond the usual sockets,ners, torque wrench etc, you will need the special socket for the gearbox mainshaft nut part number 600300 that has become readily available these days, a 2 inch hole cutter for where the linkage passes through the gearbox tunnel and 0.75 pint/400ml of GL-4 spec EP90.
