Series 3 1981 Land Rover with Brand New 1/4 Chassis and Cross Member

  
For Sale my 1981 Series 3 Land Rover. 83,000 miles on the clock, I believe this to be genuine mileage. I have the history of the vehicle going back 10 years ie, mot's etc.

I have owned several Series Land Rovers over the years and this is the best I have owned by a long way. The car warm inside in winter and is excellent sound proofing, you can hear the stereo and talk to passengers without having to shout yourself hoarse. No condensation problems at all. I have used the Land Rover every day for 18 months and it is a superb series 3 and has never let me down. The chassis is sound and I have just had a brand new 1/4 Chassis fitted with new cross member.

There are NO patches in the chassis and it is very solid.. I have included some photos of the chassis.

If you want to see more just ask. The Bulkhead is in excellent condition. The foot wells have had two small patches welded on the edges but are sound and will last for many years. The paint work is still its original colour of Mid Grey. The Land Rover is a Hard Top with Windows and never had seats in the back.

There are 3 good seats in the front but the centre seat does not have a seat belt. The floors to the front and the rear have been sound proofed. There is an interior map light to the front.

There are four handy cargo nets one on each of the two front doors and two on the roof lining above the driver side and passenger side. Anti Burst front door locks. There is a stereo radio/cassette player from the 1980's both work great and you can hear them. The speakers are at the rear above the safari door. The dashboard is almost perfect, it has 3 small screw holes were someone fitted something at some point.

But they don't notice as I have repaired them. Apart from that its like new. The engine is still the original and does not smoke or burn oil or use water. All oils and filters have been recently change including gear box's and axle's.

There is a small oil leak from the transfer box but this has never bothered me because it is so small. It has overdrive and freewheeling hubs, both work as they should without problems. It has electronic ignition and an electric fan that has an override switch in the cab. New coil, new battery, new zenith carb, all new in the past 18 months. All the Electrics were renewed some time ago when the Land Rover was refurbished, everything is in its proper place and no bodge ups. Parabolic springs and 4 year old Defender wheels allowing better choice of tyres. 750 x 16 Latitude Michelin tyres are on there at the moment. I have the original wheels with 205 x16 tyres in good condition and are included. The Land Rover has two spare wheels mounted one on the rear door and one on the bonnet, It also has the bulkhead bracket giving a choice of 3 places to mount your spare tyres. The bodywork is in great condition for its age and it looks really smart I think. The steel frames at the bottom of the doors have been repaired at some point but they are solid and look ok. There is a tow hitch on the rear cross member. Front and brand new rear mud flaps.

Spot lights work, in fact everything works as it should. Drives straight, pulls up straight, don't jump out of gear. The roof rack is included but the dog guard is not.
