Vintage Coffee Van Land Rover Series 3 4wd

  

Here is our Coffee "Gladys". We converted what we think is an Asquith Van into a coffee van around 6 years ago. The restoration and conversion were all carried out professionally. Underneath is a Series 3 Land Rover with switchable 4 wheel drive and low ratio gears.

The conversions were carried out with long term use in mind as the Land Rover chassis is easily maintained and parts readily available. The chassis itself has been replaced with a new galvanized chassis so there are none of the usual Land Rover corrosion issues. The sides of the van are wood, it has a steel bonnet and a brass radiator. Power is supplied and maintained by 3 x 160 AH batteries which are charged constantly by 4 x 100w solar panels on the roof and a split charge system off the alternator. A Sterling Pro Combi Q inverter which is rated at 1600w constant power provides 240v. The two gas bottles that provide the LPG (used by the coffee machine) are housed in a metal lined gas cupboard. The coffee machine is a Fracino Retro which has been rated at 3kw so just utilises a 3 pin plug. The coffee machine is reliable and efficient, this has been modified allowing the ability to switch off two of the three elements on the boiler heater. This was done to allow the water to be heated using a Honda EU20i generator to run the machine (albeit slowly). One is used for milk and is an Engle allowing either 240v or 12 v operation. The other is a drinks display fridge which is just 240v. Included in the sale is a Mazzer Super Jolley grinder which works perfectly. There is a large storage cupboard for stock, water and equipment. Driving is fine as long as you take your time. There is no power steering so parking can be challenging. A top speed of 40 mph is sensible although wit will go faster if you wish.
