The cylinder block and sump are from a Rover 60 and the iron cylinder head is from a Land Rover. This is a 1957 two litre spread bore petrol engine as fitted to the later series one Land Rover.

As far as I can tell this engine has not been re-bored and the crankshaft hasn't been ground. I can't see any oversize markings on the pistons or undersize markings on the shell bearings.

I don't know what the crank pin and main bearing measurements should be on an un-ground crankshaft but I have pictures of measurements I have taken of the crank and a piston and bore. The engine has been barn stored for many years. It will need new pistons as I damaged them whilst freeing them up in the bores.

I would say that the cylinder bores will need to be re-bored as they were rusty. The engine now turns over freely. Whether the crank shaft would go again with new shell bearings I'm not sure, you would need to check that out.

It's probably best to assume that it will need grinding. I think this would be an ideal core for a rebuild. I can't see any cracks or other frost damage. Several nuts and bolts are missing.

All the head bolts are there, the bolt threads and the internal threads could do with a clean up to make the bolts spin in nicely. The engine comes with the parts as seen in the pictures. I have several more pictures, if you would like to see them or know more about the engine please ask. Thanks for looking, Graham Parsons, EGP engines.
