1959 Land Rover Series 2 SWB 88

  

1959 Series 2 Petrol Land Rover Short Wheel Base 88 M. Plus Hard top with windows and rear door. The series 2 is rarer than the 2A. My name at my address (I've owned it for about four years).

Runs and drives like an old Land Rover. Original non synchromesh gearbox and hi-low, four wheel drive all work as they should. Rare screwed not riveted vent flaps. I have sourced an original pair of vent openers which are included in the price although not fitted or painted (4 screws each).

When I got the vehicle it didn't have any at all for some reason, but I never got round to putting them on. Original suppliers badge on dash. Aluminium Military / Wolf door tops.

Military canvas - although old. Complete new brake system all pipes (copper), flexi's, master, slave and wheel cylinders professionally fitted with receipt from local family owned garage. Four new shock absorbers with garage receipt. Carb rebuilt with new kit with garage receipt. New Distributer cap, points, rotor, condenser and plugs.

I have sourced the following items which are included in the sale. An Original Series 2 genuine Handbook. An Original Series 2 genuine Workshop Manual. An original sales advertisement from a magazine which would look great framed.

Wipers and lights have stopped working which is probably either a fuse or bad earth. Chassis has surface corrosion towards the rear which I have not covered up in paint or oil etc so you can see the conditon clearly. Brakes need a final bleed but still work fine although there's a little more pedal travel than ideal. All things considered though, it represents an excellent investment with prices steadily climbing whether you choose to completely restore it on a new chassis or just'tinker' with it as you go and enjoy cheap classic motoring.

The series 2 are probably rarer than the series one as they were only made for a couple of years. The final price is the final price no haggling whatsoever. Viewing recommended and I'll take you for a test ride. As there are no brake lights a trailer for collection will be required.
