Accompanying the vehicle is a full specification sheet with service parts listed making maintenance easy.
Is considered by many the hardiest Series model constructed, having the same main design as the original Series 1, but improved upon in many areas. It is the type of classic Land Rover that features strongly in the general public's perception of the Land Rover, and its shape was carried right through to the most recent Defender, which only this year has seized production after its long 67 year life. This particular model is the archetypal blue Regular short wheel base (88), but with a twist It has a very powerful 3.5 litre Rover V8 lifted from a Range Rover Classic! It starts readily and runs well, ticking over with a gorgeous smooth burble at the tailpipe. It will cruise around town and country very smoothly, but floor the throttle pedal and accelerates very well (for an old Land Rover anyway)! It will sit at 60-65 mph all day long.Dont be put off by the fuel economy, it has the same, if not better MPG than a standard 2.25 petrol engined vehicle. It will pull up to a stop nice and straight with the uprated, servo assisted brakes. On road of off it, the vehicle is very capable and manoeuvrable, with its parabolic springs and tall tyres. The chassis and bulkhead are believed to be completely original, but have had repairs in the past to a good standard, including new rear cross member, front dumb irons and new outriggers Most of its new! It has also been fully undersealed inside and out to protect it for the future.
The bulkhead is mildly modified to accept the V8 engine. The vehicle has been recommissioned by the previous owner over the winter, since it has been out of use since 1998, until he found it and decided to get it back on the road. The exterior of the vehicle has been resprayed to a good standard in its original colour, and inside the paintwork still has a lovely original patina. The interior is good; with vinyl Deluxe front seats and rear bench seats for passengers. There are auxiliary volt and oil pressure gauges, a 12v socket for a satnav, the original Smiths round heater, and a rare hand throttle that still works!
The vehicle has a very long MoT until 7. This vehicle would make a fantastic investment, that can be used, enjoyed and cherished, ideal for those hood-off trips down the pub on a summers evening!
