1972 Land Rover Series 3 Galvanised Chassis AND Bulkhead. MOT & TAX exempt

  

1972 Short Wheel base Series Land Rover with Galvanised chassis and Galvanised Bulkhead fitted a couple of years ago. As can be seen from the photos underneath is in EXCELLENT condition. Nice shiny balls on the steering, parabolic springs which make for better articulation and a smoother ride. Fresh canvas fitted at the end of last year (could do with a couple of galvanised clips).

New seats fitted along with thick rubber floor mats and both door tops too. The back door was also replaced and freshly painted in Bronze Green. The brakes have been recently overhauled (I've had 20 of these over the years and this one stops the strongest). Very tight little petrol engine which starts immediately and pulls well (and has just been serviced). The wheels and tyres are a set of New Take Off from a Defender - they are very smart and behave well on the road but not 100% original in look for the purists.

If you don't know the driving experience on these then they are pretty agricultural - don't expect to hop in and arrive down in the South of France the next day fresh from your trip!! You'll need to accept a 50mph cruising speed, steering that is a'suggestion of direction', understand what double declutching is and forget about listening to the radio or birdsong. Given I've had 20 over the years they are addictive and charming. The biggest one is the paintwork which is part Bronze Green and part drab (the bonnet is peeling and needs a good rub down first). There is a crack on the top of the dashboard (they all do) and the fuel gauge doesn't work - a new sender unit is included in the sale.

The correct black and silver number plate is also around for the front bumper (this is also a new galvanised item, I've just not got round to the plate fitting). If I get a chance over the weekend I will put it on. The roof comes off in 10 minutes and is the ideal summer run-about.
