Didn't think I would ever sell my Land Rover but things have changed over the last 12 months and it is simply not getting used. One day I will regret it. Owned since March 2009 and over that time many thousands have been spent getting it just how I wanted it and to be safe and useable. Will probably also end up being advertised elsewhere to gain maximum exposure. Land Rover Series 2 (not a 2a).
(Have old MOT's present). V5 here in my name at my address. Stacks of paperwork for work done and decent quality parts bought.
Very good strong solid truck which has been driven all over the place, even into France and Belgium. Including many Series 2 Club events over the last 9 years. Believed to have original chassis and bulkhead, over the years a new rear cross member and front dumb irons have been fitted and also the bulkhead has had some repairs to a good standard. Many original features which you will see in the photo's. Passenger side Wiper Motor doesn't work, neither does the mileometer, as far as I know everything else works as it should. But please remember it is a 59 year old classic Land Rover that has been used so it will need fettling now and then to keep everything on top. The body work has been repainted (sprayed 2 pack) before I bought it to a good standard, but there are marks and dings which don't show up in photo's. I have used this on many Series 2 Club Green Lane trips so there are scratch marks down the side which may buff out?
(Currently still pictured wading a ford on the main welcome/home page of The Series 2 Club). The engine compartment needs a clean due to a few dirty puddles. Haven't got round to professionally getting it steam cleaned. The Truck Cab Roof is off at the moment for some Summer driving so a bit dusty and a few cobwebs here and there.
The engine is a lovely sounding and running Rover 3900cc V8 with twin carburettors. The Gearbox is a strong Series 2 that was rebuilt around 3 years ago when this engine was fitted, these Series 2 Gearboxes are without syncro so please be aware of that. New Radiator and Kenlowe Electric Fan assist the cooling. Electric Fuel Pump to ensure enough juice gets to the Carbs. Brakes are original style drums all round, they work, but are not to modern standards as not servo assisted.
Likewise the Steering is more like a Boat, but if you know Series Land Rovers you will understand that. The Suspension was changed in the last few years to Rocky Mountain Parabolic as I believe it to be a better ride. Like some of the other changes it could be put back to original if desired in the future.
Leaks, there are a few minor oil leaks but I don't believe them to be an issue, Series Land Rovers all like to mark their territory. Seats are comfy, Exmoor Trim Extreme. I have Lap Belts for when the Roof is off and three point inertia for when the Truck Cab is on. Exmoor Trim and others have everything you need usually available off the shelf.
Aluminium Rocky Mountain Door Tops with nice two way sliding windows. Collection only from Hampshire PO8, cleared funds or cash. (sorry but you do get some horror stories).
