Ex military vehicle Land Rover Series 3 Lightweight

  
Land Rover Series 3 Lightweight FFR 88. We have owned the vehicle for nearly 5 years when we bought it it had been heavily civilianised and ruined. To bring back to military spec we have done the following. New military rear crossmember and bumpettes with nato hitch proper military 13 pin socket and a 7 pin civi one, lifting eyes and shackles. Refitted original bug eye lenses on side lights and indicators.

Sourced original headlamp shrouds and refitted with new bowls and adjusters. New proper lightweight front bumper and nato hitch lifting eyes and shackles. Proper lightweight split rear tailgate with set of pioneer tools. Was originally a 24v FFR was wired to 12v to suit the 4/203 Perkins diesel engine, recently rewired with new front loom, with new wiper wash switch, fuse box, hazard switch, Ign switch with heat control, heavy duty 110 amp battery, fitted electric fan and new thermostat control, washer motor. Still retains twin fuel tanks not originals and without change over switch.

Fitted Ariel boxes on front wings with Ariels, 7.62 SLR gun clips on bulkhead. New alternator, Front brake shoes and wheel cylinders.

All tyres good 50% worn. The only welding on chassis is the rear crossmember and 2 outriggers which carry the rear of the fuel tanks. Recently fitted new fuel lift pump and filter, had a new vent panel sometime in the past and door tops.

The Perkins 4/203 engine starts on the button and gives around 40mpg pulling its sankey trailer and 60mph on a good road oil pressure 70psi. We do not have its military number but could be sourced through its chassis number from army records, I think the seat box may have been changed as only shows civi plate. Only used for shows we are a member of Cornwall MVT, done about 800 miles in the last 6 years, needs a new home and someone who will use it more, always dry stored winter and summer.

The downsides dash could do with tidying as was covered with blue carpet most has been removed, Hood is OK keeps water out but as its never left in the rain for more than a few hours may need replacing in the future if not garaged.
