Land Rover. 1958 Series II

  

Here we have for sale an early 1958 Series II Land Rover. As you can see from the photo's, this is a bit like triggers broom - A totally original Land Rover but with a few changes...

From Certified Copy of a factory record supplied by the British Motor Industry Heritage Trust, She was built on 19 May 1958 and despatched on the 22 May 1958 to South Western Garage Limited in Southampton. With a Chassis number ending in 210, she is certainly a very early landy off the production line. She has late Series II wings in place or her originals, indeed, from the front appears as a late IIa. She also has a Series III military petrol engine in place of her original 2 litre diesel, and servo assisted braking. However, these changes are still Land Rover "upgrades" so are tolerable albeit not for the purists. Her door tops are shot - the glass is held in place with gorilla tape - so a pair of brand new series 2 door tops will be provided. Similarly, She has a wiring fault at the back which have only 1 tail light working - replacement tail lights are supplied too. To be clear; This vehicle is NOT a Defender, and is far from pristine, so if that is what you want, look elsewhere. She is probably best described as a running project. With minimal effort would be good to motor around in. Vehicle is located in Vernham Dean, SP11 0HB, north of Andover in Hampshire.
