Land Rover Series 1 1953 80

  

For Sale: 1953 Land Rover Series 1 80 - Imported from Australia, fully U. 5 x new bar tread tyres and a new bumper recently fitted. This wonderfully patina'ed 1953 model has it's original engine, gearbox and drive-train.

The chassis is in amazing condition and still has much of the factory applied bronze green paint on it. The bulkhead is very sound with brilliant foot-wells and A-pillars, the vehicle is remarkably complete overall. The dash panel is present with original gauges still in place (though these will obviously require repair to function), the gearbox has the correct spec 1953 gear lever which has not been welded at the bottom as most of them have. Included are the three square backed 53 spec seats, which are not rusted out like others we have seen and will definitely "go again". The car has the correct curved hood sticks, these have not been welded or bent and are in very good condition - in fact placed in the rear body tub is an original spec hood (very tired out now - but still cool to have with the car).

The engine bay is complete with the correct 80 oil bath air-cleaner and pre-cleaner. The rad is the original 1953 date stamped rad and the core looks good (although we haven't filled it with water). The gearbox selects all gears though is untested on the road obviously. Both rear D-Lamps are present and the rear cross-member is very structurally sound - this car has an extremely good chassis under it.

It would be a shame to restore this vehicle as the condition is such that it would make a great patina car. Or if it must be restored then you will have the basis for a very sound restoration with an extremely complete donor car to start with.
