It has no deep corrosion and only very minor impact dinks to underside cross members consistent with the use of this type of vehicle was built for. The rear cross member is original, albeit having lost much of its paint due to exposure to the elements but is sound and shows only light surface rust. However, presumably life eventually passed this type of vehicle by as a working asset and it was relegated to a barn in favour of a newer vehicle, where it sat until it was brought home. The bulkhead and engine bay are not perfect, having suffered with water ingress whilst in storage. There is significant corrosion to bulkhead top rail and nearside door pillar - However, it is straight and any repair would be very straightforward, or I have another 80 bulkhead in near perfect condition available by negotiation.
The radiator has been replaced with a non-original one at some stage in the vehicle's life and a genuine (used) Land-Rover one will be included in this sale. I do also have many other spares for this type of vehicle which are available by separate negotiation.Ltd on 13th October 1952 A copy of Grenvilles handwritten ledger record of that sale can be made available on request, showing chassis and engine number as present today. It came back to UK in 2015 and is for sale now to help to cover costs of bringing another Land Rover (1949 80) back to good order. There is no V5C with the vehicle but it is VAT paid and NOVA was declared at import. I have not applied for an age related plate but Land Rover Series One Club are very helpful in securing issue if purchaser should wish to have one when the vehicle is ready to use. If you have any questions about this please feel free to contact me and I will do my best to help if able.
This is not the normal rotten and corroded basket case dragged out of a hedgebottom.... The condition of this vehicle is such that it will require more of a sympathetic re-commissioning rather than full restoration. Although it is not roadworthy at present and will need a fair bit of work to bring it up to scratch, it is an excellent opportunity to acquire a true British classic vehicle that will be an appreciating asset and give years of enjoyment along the way.
