Reluctant sale due to change of circumstance and too many projects on the go all at once : , and a Garage floor to pay for. Offered for sale is my Land Rover Minerva 80" which as you probably know is the licence built Belgian Series 1 80" for the Belgian Army. So to the layman its a LHD 80 but with steel panels without getting into rivet counting. Sourced for me by a well know group in Holland and brought over recently. It now has its NOVA number so its very simple to send paperwork into the DVLA to obtain a V5C (I have the Belgian papers and V55 forms etc ready).
Very good vehicle, body good with no rust issues that I can see- last owner had had the body off to clean up and paint chassis and body. Bulkhead is near perfect as is the chassis, no rot and no signs of ever having had repairs- as is the case with a lot of these vehicles a good amount of them seem to have had little use. Has a very good set of tyres, has the usual Military kit on rear etc.
Has been fitted with new fuel tank and water pump. Brakes are working, has just had a new master cylinder fitted and one hose and I believe all brakes (shoes etc) to be all serviceable. All correct original gauges present, has the dip switch on wheel etc. Has correct airfilter and precleaner and the early DVX4HA Dizzy- timing has been set up. Full set of hood sticks and a very nice quality tilt fitted. Sits nice, leaf springs all good, new shock absorbers fitted. Exhaust looks fairly new to.Fairly new canvas seats fitted. Steering box appears to have been rebuilt by the Army at some point as there is a plate attached, seems good on the road. Has an excellent pair of doortops also, best I have seen.
Engine (1997cc) has had been rebuilt by the Army also in the past, plate on block. Starts easy and runs nice.
These Minervas do drive nice on the road due to the extra weight in the body. Mechanicals are all pretty dry so suspect the last owner had already done some work whilst vehicle stripped down. Few little jobs to do, lights need reconnecting, very slight tappet rattle and slight noise from thrust bearing. Would probably say give it a service and change all the oils to be sure but its likely they may of been done but I cannot say for sure.
Then it will be ready to go for the show season. Will also supply a spare seatbox. Will need a trailer to take away as it has no v5c as yet. Some new fuel in tank and new A/freeze fitted. These are starting to appreciate and are becoming a cheaper alternative to the sky high prices British 80s are now commanding. Ideal to keep as is or as per a few individuals are now converting to British 80 panels to get the look of an alloy bodied 80- choice is yours. At an extra charge I could possibly supply all the panels you would need to carry out such a conversion and it still be a cheaper alternative. Happy to answer any questions.
