She was built in 1961 and spent the first 8 years in the RAF [75 AA 41] and then registered on the road in 1969. I bought her in 1993 and both my brother and I learned to drive in her as well as learning how to read a Haynes manual! She has the original 2.25 petrol engine.
About 10 years ago, I decided to embark on a full re-build which took me a couple of years. I went back to the bare chassis and worked upwards! New bits included body tub struts, shocks and springs, brakes and lights as well as rebuilding the gearbox. I repainted her [at that stage she was an odd shade of blue] and took her back to classic Landrover Pastel Green with Limestone roof and wheels using proper enamel paint.
Since the refurb, she has come out on high days and holidays and been kept garaged. She even played a part in CarFest North with Chris Evans! Other more recent adaptations are I have boxed out the rear with ply and insulation to keep the dog warm and installed somewhere to keep the HiLift Jack. She starts on the nose and is in good mechanical order.
As you can see from the pictures there are a few'character' dings and dents but overall she is pretty straight. Bulkhead and Chassis are all solid and sound having been attended to during the refurb and then waxoyled. There is a small amount of minor corrosion at the door bases but very minor and nothing serious.
Other than that, doing pretty well for a 58 year old! I can arrange a test drive on private roads if needs be.
