Land Rover Series 2 II 1961 109 Rare Diesel, Somerset reg 442 RYC

  

This lovely genuine Series 2 not 2a was built in approx June 1961 and not registered until 8th October 1962 in Somerset. Chassis 156100739 was one of only 911 Home market diesels made in the 1961 model year making it a rare beast today as most of them have been worked to death and scrapped! It lived in Somerset until 1974 when the last owner bought it and kept it for 42 years. Comes with the old buff log book showing 6 owners in total and newer V5 Log book. The chassis plate is in the correct place on the bulkhead.

The registration number is transferable but it would be a great shame to part them after all these years. Originally Mid Grey which I really like and would look great next to a sea of green ones! It needs a full restoration but the chassis looks saveable and the bulkhead is also with some welding. Lots of original features incl twin battery trays, original diesel badge and lots more.

The original engine was changed many years ago due to failure. The 2.25 Land Rover engine turns over but I have not attempted to start it. A worthwhile project and unusual and useful being a 109. Can be viewed off Junc 14 M4 Near Hungerford Berkshire. Transport can be arranged at a competitive price throughout the UK.
