Land Rover Series 2 SWB Petrol

  

1959 Series 2 SWB 2.25 petrol Land Rover with 73k miles. The car was imported from New Zealand last year. It has the original rust free chassis and bulkhead. The car is fully UK registered as a historic vehicle and has passed an MOT with no advisories.

The vehicle has had a full strip down to chassis and nut and bolt rebuild. Suspension spring bushes have been replaced. Dampers and bushes have also been replaced.

Cylinder head has been removed to check bores and valves. While the head was off the valve stem seals and head gasket were replaced. The sump has also been removed to check main bearings and replace the rear crank seal which was weeping. The bores and bearings are all in good condition with little wear. Engine has been serviced with new oil, filter, spark plugs, water pump, fan belt and carb.

The gearbox runs well in all gears with little noise. Transfer box also works as expected and selects 4wd and high and low range. Both gearbox and transfer box oil were also renewed. A new clutch friction plate and pressure plate have fitted along with new master and slave cylinders. Axles have been stripped down and new wheel bearings fitted where needed. All hub oil seals have been renewed as well. Differentials are in good condition and oil has been replaced. The spare wheel can be fixed to bonnet or on a bracket in the load space. Brakes have been overhauled with new brakes shoes and cylinders at each wheel.

A new master cylinder has also been fitted along with new brakes lines through the vehicle. The body panels have been removed from the vehicle and painted individually. All body panels are original other than the door tops which are new.

The canvas is a brand-new Exmoor trim item. Above the Land Rover Birmingham Data plate there is a further plate which shows the body was produced by the Pressed Metal Corporation of Sydney. There are new door seals fitted.

The interior has brand new front seats along with new foot well mats and a load space mat. No seatbelts or door locks.
