Land Rover Series 2a 109. 1965. Only 6494 Miles

  

This vehicle was listed for sale at 9-30pm on Thursday 24th May. Within 36 hours it had had over 700 views and over 30 people had it on their watch list. This is a real nuisance as I have now lost my watchers, and people seeing it relisted will think that it was rejected after examination. That is not the case.

Anyway back to the vehicle. This vintage 1965 Series 2a Landrover appears to have spent its life as a little used runabout in Littlebrook Powerstation. According to the V5 it was not even registered for road use until 1996.

It has only 6494 miles on the clock, backed up by the MOTs. Is it the lowest mileage Series 2A out there? The V5 that came with it listed it as running on heavy oil.

When I registered it in my name I pointed out that it was petrol, but the new V5 still came back showing heavy oil! My intention was to have it made more user friendly with power steering and Discovery running gear, and then use it. The suggestion bought howls of protest. Evidently to modify such a low mileage Series 2A in such good unrestored original condition would be nothing short of vandalism! OK, the 08 Defender Puma is much easier to drive than the 1965 Series 2A, but it certainly does not turn heads in the same way!

The 2A is a lovely thing in unbelievable condition for a 53 year old Landrover. As far as I can see its not been restored, got at or bodged. I would like to keep it, but the limitations of space means that it has to go, hopefully to an enthusiast who will do the few bits necessary to bring it up to show standard. If you are into old landrovers this is one not to miss.
