In fact she hasn't been run in the last 7 years. Sadly, she needs to go to a good home - one that would hopefully have room to restore her to her former glory.
There are a few issues with her so we'll list the known faults for the sake of transparency. Firstly the engine is NOT running - we suspect (and this is from memory) that a one of the block plugs was displaced the last time she was run (in winter) and the coolant has since gone. B there was a misfire on No. 4 - can't remember exact details cylinder - it's not known whether this was a terminal fault or not. C the wiring loom has been botched it's certainly functional but it's definitely not original in any way, shape or form - this has been like it since purchasing the vehicle from Cornwall way way back and has never caused any issues.
D the soft top is way past being serviceable. It was new at one point but time and weather have pretty much wrecked it in the 7 years she hasn't been run. E the outriggers look rusty and are definitely corroded through in a couple of places, but look salvageable. F the doors are NOT great - in places, the rust is the only thing holding them together.
G the mileage - I've quoted circa 30k, but we all know that a 1960 vehicle is NOT going to have that kind of original mileage - so take it with a pinch of salt. Well a truck load of salt would be a better bet. Plus notes : a the original Zenith carb was replaced with a brand new Weber which almost doubled the fuel economy (I use that word somewhat hesitantly given it's a Land Rover). B there are proper seatbelts fitted to the vehicle as seen in the photo.C she has freewheeling hubs fitted to the driveshafts which definitely help with the noise aspect. D the CB radio is thrown in for free (which was working last time the vehicle ran). E history wise, she never once broke down except for items like broken driveshafts when playing silly buggers off road. That said, she ALWAYS got us home.
We've tried to justify being able to restore her to her former glory, but sadly, we just can't afford to do so. So it's with a truly heavy heart that she is for sale.
