Hi, up for sale is my Dads Land Rover Series 2a. Now nearly 70 my Dad wishes to sell it as it gets used very little. He would like it to go to a good home where it will be used as it should.

It didn't start out this nice and was restored over 3 years it kept him busy! By my Dad and myself. As my Dad doesn't do technology, there are over 100 photos of the restoration in a photo album. Fully stripped and original chassis repaired by qualified welder. New out riggers and cross members and dumb irons.

It was all sand blasted and thermo zinc coated, so won't rust again, then was wax oiled inside and painted several coats of rustoleum on the outside. Both axles were stripped and cleaned. New swivels and bearings and gaskets were all they needed.

All new brakes and brake pipes. They were then painted with several coats of rustoleum. You can see from the photos that they are still very clean. The chassis was then mounted to the axles with new leaf springs and shocks, U bolts, shackle plates, check straps etc.

Bulkhead was then stripped and blasted, showing how bad it was! Back to the welders workshop we went and had new foot wells and patch repairs. It was then blasted again and thermo zinc coated.

Whilst the welding was being done we started on the engine. It ran sweet as a nut, but had oil leaks, so we set about having a good look. The rear main oil seal was replaced (what a nightmare those T piece gaskets are to fit) and several other gaskets.

Bores and ends looked fine, so were left alone. Lots of other bits were done, like points, plugs, leads, coil, dynamo. Original Solex carb was vapour blasted and rebuilt with new jets, diaphragm and gaskets.

Original radiator was re cored. All galvanised parts were sand blasted and re-galvanised, including window frame.

Body panels were fairly straight. We fitted new outer wings, front light panel was welded and thermo zinc coated, new Rocky Mountain tail gate and door bottoms. All painted parts were then sent off for painting. It was all painted Cellulose bronze Green.

The paint is good, but does have the odd mark here and there. Exmoor hood and seats still like new. Steering wheel was cleaned and painted. Wheels were sand blasted and thermo zinc coated before paint, tyres are old type Town and Country cross ply and do have side wall cracking from lack of use.

Would benefit from modern radial tyres, but drives fine on cross ply's. I think that's about it, but will have forgotten something we did, so please come and view. Tea is free and we can chat about the work that has been done. Will make someone very happy, looks very original as it goes down the road and gets many admiring smiles.
