I shot blasted the chassie then painted it in red oxide followed by black coach paint and then wax oiled thus she still has her all important chases number. On the outside, there are some pleasant period features, such as deluxe bonnet bonnet with mounted spare, correct vintage numberplates, mudflaps and steel wheels. On the inside, the vehicle has deluxe front and rear seats and a cubby box replacing the centre seat.. The interior is standard and in exceptional condition, there is deluxe trim door cards and handles.
Out on the road, the vehicle drives just as it should, giving a pleasant period driving experience. The engine pulls like a train starts on the button and is smooth and quiet. She will easily pull a horse trailer.A full summary of the work completed in the build. The vehicle was totally stripped down with everything including axles removed a full set of photos of all work is available. The axels were then striped and sandblasted the axles, replaced the swivel balls, all bearings and brakes.
The engine was removed stripped down and re built a new clutch, new masters, slave aswell, brand new wiring loom and switches, both lucas wiper motors were stripped down and rebuilt refurbed all other parts so she looks brand new inside and out! The engine has been overhauled and serviced with a new oil and filter she starts on the button as you would expect.
A new exhaust was fitted with new mounting straps. The gearbox was drained, new synchromesh springs fitted and all output seals were replaced and fitted with front and rear propshafts with all the joints replaced and the gear oil replaced in both the front and rear differential including the front hubs and transfer box.All body panels were paint stripped, with new panels fitted where needed plus any previous repair filler ground off existing panels, repaired and then etch primered, 2 coats of primer were then done and finished with cellulose paint. The bulkhead was stripped, new'A' pillars were fitted including the mounting brackets and footwells, it was then primed and painted. New side, brake and indicator lights were fitted with new door seals and door cards to both doors. A new Galvanised front bumper was fitted The series also benefits from a brand new Auto Sparks loom.
As can be seen from the above, many new parts were fitted within the build and full photographs of the rebuild are included within the history file. In summary, if you are looking for a rebuilt, cheap to own and run Series 2a then this could be for you. The vehicle is priced very keenly in view of the level of works undertaken to the parts you cannot see on this vehicle.
