Land rover series 2a 2.5 na diesel

  

Once again my Series 2a is for sale - please don't be put off by it being on here before as no one has actually been to see it. If you are serious about it I would firstly ask you contact me so we can chat about it as there is too much to list on here. Please don't be the next timewaster! This is a 1962 Series 2a fitted with a Series 3 bulkhead and dash along with a strong 2.5na diesel engine. This is without doubt a "bitsa" and not one for the purist but equally is has all of the good bits that you would want in a good usable series Land Rover.

The chassis was shot blasted and welded up (not necessarily in a very pretty way but in a good strong way) before being primed with red-oxide and several coats of hammerite. The bulkhead is in a good sound condition. Everything was either refurbished or renewed before assembly including. New brake lines, drums, cylinders, shoes.

There is a lot more on this list but you get the idea - i have a folder full of receipts for all of this. Engine is a little smokey and loud, also leaks a little oil but nothing to be alarmed about - it's true what they say if it doesn't leak oil there is none in it!! This has been like this all through my ownership and has never been a problem.

I have done several trips of a few hundred miles without issue. Oil could probably do with changing but to be honest I have left this for new owner to do as a nice "getting acquainted" project. There are 6 defender wheels with excellent 7.50 x 16 Michelin Lattitude cross tyres which i think are really good - nice and quiet on road and OK off road but please bear in mind these are predominantly road tyres.

One spare is on the bonnet (I have a spare plain black deluxe bonnet if preferred) and one spare on a decent swing away spare carrier. There are USB ports and 12v sockets properly wired in to the ammo boxes in place of a cubby box along with a LED reversing light and additional 12v socket hidden in the rear of the back. The battery is under the passenger seat and has jump leads hard wired to an Anderson socket for ease of jump starting fellow Land Rovers at shows.

The canvas hood is old but looks cool as doesn't leak. A newish bikini hood will also be included in the sale. The full tilt is the best option in my opinion as you have the best of both worlds, this is also only around 20 minutes away from being a full screen down convertible - an absolute blast for our annual 3 days of summer! I could talk about this for hours so please ask a question if there is anything else you need to know.
