Rolling Chassis Land Rover Series 2A Lightweight. Vehicle has been used as a donor for the restoration of a very similar vehicle. Currently on SORN with an S suffix registration.
Original military registration number: 43 FG 21. Date in to service: January 1969.
Contract Number: WV7478 (12 Volt GS Rover 1 Model). Obviously will need to be trailered away, but this sale includes. Front axle with working Selectro Free Wheeling Hubs. Rear axle with standard civilian half shafts, flanges and hub caps. 4 Wheels and tyres (short wheelbase rims).
Tyres are of varying sizes and not road worthy. Front and rear leaf springs. Track Rod and Drag Link. Left hand fuel tank which has been modified to act as a battery box. Please note that the following items are not included in this sale (still awaiting removal). Fuel tank on right hand side.Rear lightweight flanges (will be supplied with a pair of civilian flanges and half shafts). Although the chassis has seen better days, it is salvageable and if not, there is the basis of a great special project. The axles appear to be original, but have not tried to find the numbers, so cannot confirm this.
The back axle has the reinforcement web under the casing. The front axle has the military leather gaiters fitted and the state of the chrome swivel housings is unknown. It looks like it has had recent front dumb irons (spring hangers), but does not have the right angle number one cross member fitted to lightweights to prevent chassis flex. Rear cross member is bent on the right hand side and should be replaced. RH front bulkhead outrigger is cracking away from the chassis which suggest a poor weld in the past. Please note that the vehicle will be supplied with a new V5C which has been applied for, but has not arrived yet presumably due to the current crisis and the consequential inevitable delays at DVLA. We also have a copy of the B Card (not sure if its the original or not). Happy to hang on to this until this madness is over..
