Land Rover Series 2a SWB 88 2.25L Diesel 1963

  

Land Rover Series 2a SWB 88 2.25L Diesel 1963. Usable condition and runs well but more work still to do. Fairy overdrive box and free-wheeling front hubs.

Now in good condition having been repaired with patches under the gearbox cross-member and front outriggers (see pictures). Front spring hangers were replaced some years ago. The whole chassis and both axles have been repainted after thorough preparation. (Some minor welding is required on one end of rear cross-member). Both top corners have been patched (see picture). New replacement foot-wells already bought. The seat base is modified for seats from a modern car. The tool box/tray under the passenger seat is missing. There are no seat belts because it was originally a commercial vehicle.

A sunroof has been fitted by a previous owner. The rear side windows have been replaced by aluminium panels.

The glass windows (included in sale) can easily be refitted. The drivers side door top is new. Passenger side door top needs work (Have another frame ready to fit). The headlight panel has been welded along the bottom. Door catches and hinges need adjustment.

Starts and runs well but would benefit from a full overhaul. It is probably the original engine because the number is correct for the age of the vehicle. The water pump is new. New brake and clutch master cylinders and new wheel cylinders.

Front brake pipes are also new. Would benefit from new brake shoes and adjusters. Tyres are BF Goodrich Traction Plus 7.50 x 16.

Some cracks in the side walls but usable and 4 out of 5 have good tread. The wiring loom is mostly original i. But the electrics all work. The smiths heater also works. Cash on collection (Social distancing observed).
