It has been the subject of a recent total chassis up restoration to depict its original image when it joined the War Office back in 1964. This vehicle is not what DVLA are now calling a're-constructed classic car'. It is not on a new replacement galvanised chassis, it is still on its original which has the chassis number clearly marked. The chassis and the underside have been future proofed with a large quantity of clear wax protection as can be seen on one of the photographs.
Sympathetically restored to retain some patina, UBA635J has been restored closely to the exacting standards of the original build. This has been carried out by a professional restorer who has rebuilt and worked on nothing but Series Land Rovers since the early 1970s and still does. Although there is far too much to mention having been done, the notable areas are the correct period lamps and the new Exmoor Trim period seats, trim and canvas, these indicating some of the care and passion in getting the detail correct to its year. It is very seldom that a vehicle such as this, which is faithful to its origins, comes onto the marketplace. Its price reflects the dedication to detail, originality and the labour of love in restoring it.UBA 635J is a 1964 Series 2A Short wheelbase, RHD soft top vehicle powered by the ever faithful 2.25 litre petrol engine. It is to original specification with the optional extras of the time fitted, these being Indicators, a heater and seatbelts. Driving UBA 635J is a joy, the feel of the re-furbished steering wheel, the hum of the tyres and the smooth engine note never fails to impress. I would suggest you come and have a look first though, however, what you see is a genuine superbly restored truck, which is what you get.
