Also replaced at this time were the floor panels and doors. (again there is paperwork to show job completed) Since then it has had very limited use. The current owner has used this Series 3 as it was intended when it was designed by Land Rover and when semi-retiring in the mid 90's he used the Land Rover to carry gardening equipment to use around the local area, he was also a Scout Leader for the majority of this time and has travelled to the depths of Cornwall and to the heights of Scotland and many places in between, many times towing a trailer laden with kayaks which parallels his own hobby where he has taken trips away with Canadian canoes in tow. I have looked over the Land Rover so that I could aid the next owner to identify what maybe required in the near future, at present there is no MOT. In my opinion the only major thing stopping this is corrosion build up to the leaf spring's causing them to splay.
This is an easy fix by either replacement springs which are readily available from many places or by stripping the existing springs giving them a good wire brushing and painting. As with all Land Rovers there are a few small faults: the bonnet support frame requires attention; the fuel gauge is not reading correctly and would possibly suggest a sender fault; the rear side window channels have corrosion but again are still readily available and not expensive and finally as it has been sat a lot over the last 12 months it would benefit from a tune-up to aid the start up and running.I have taken time to have a good look at other Series 3's and have found very few that are of this style and layout and around this mileage. There is also a spare set of seats that will come with the vehicle. I have described it to the best of my knowledge and will endeavour to answer any questions you may have. The pictures I have taken hopefully complement the history of the vehicle and show the lovely patina it has acquired over the years although some would prefer to repaint the whole shell I would suggest having it clear coated to maintain its current appearance and character. Again I have listed this wonderful vehicle to the best of my knowledge please do not hesitate to contact me and I will give my up most effort to answer any questions you may have.
