I will be very sad to see it go, I use it daily to take my dogs out, and it sparks up first time every time. It has done 115900 miles and from the old MOT's it has only done 15000 miles since 2004. It has never gone without, and as per all Series Land Rover owners it has been my hobby for the last two years (I'm sure I'll get another in the future). Shortly before I bought it, it has received a new rear cross member which is still in excellent condition, new front ball joints, new radiator, new brake master cylinder, new swivel joints, and had been hand painted back to the original marine blue (someone had painted it olive green).
Since I have had it, I have fitted a new petrol tank, exhaust from manifold back, new door seals, removed the old rotten dashboard and fitted a bespoke Beechwood replacement, replaced the bonnet with a delux rolled edge version (still have the old one that can go with the sale if you like), and added a new rear bench seat with two sets of belts. I have also done the usual under the bonnet, full service each year, new coil, leads, dizzy cap, filters, all fluids etc. The brakes were overhauled at the last MOT. I have a few bits and pieces of spare service parts, a radiator muffler, bottle jack, and a Haynes manual which are all included in the sale. The bulkhead is solid, as are the foot wells (see picture without the floor mat), and the chassis is also solid, helped by a yearly wax oil from myself.
It's on oversized wheels which helps with top end speed, fuel efficiency, and ground clearance, and it has freewheeling front hubs. It is not a showroom restoration piece, and all the panels are full of'patina', saves them getting stolen these days at least. But it is a good reliable daily work horse, the gearbox & transfer box are both good, first gear can jump out occasionally which is a common problem, but has never really been a issue for me. It is an old Landy and as such it does drop some oil, I just keep it topped up, and it does help keep the underside rust free.
