This is a long wheel base ex-military vehicle and is 33 years old, so comes with the usual quirks you'd expect as a result gearbox and engine oil leaks! It has a new MOT which expires in June 2018 and was serviced in May. Clock has just ticked over 84,000 miles and this is the 2.25 petrol model. ONE BAD POINT - Unfortunately in the last few weeks we seem to have lost compression - the oil looks good in the top of the engine, so its not a head gasket.
I think it is either a simple case of aligning the rockers again - or worst case, it could be a hole in the exhaust manifold or a piston/piston ring is knackered. I simply dont have time to look into it at the moment hence the low price. In the last 12 months, the car has had new electrics fitted including an ignition overhaul, new starter motor, coil and new battery. I've also put on a new silencer and tail pipe & new front and rear shocks. The car had a full service in May 2017 by Land Rover specialist, Brownchurch Motors in East London. This included a brake overhaul, including two new brake shoes.Chassis and Bulkhead are in fair to good condition and there are no welding needs. The lift pump was also recently replaced after the 33yr old one started to play up, a new radiator has been fitted and a new front prop shaft recently added. The car used to have a Fairey overdrive fitted however this is currently off the car but will be included. It requires a new part (input drive) and Im also including a second overdrive in the sale for spare/repair. I will also include a high lift jack for the car, engine crank, books, paperwork history of the car including all receipts for work done plus some new essential spares - fan belt, wipes halogen headlamp conversion kit, condenser, filters and solenoid.
I've put in a brand new kill switch this month and new wipers too. The seats have been upgraded to the deluxe versions and are in perfect condition. I also have some vanity items which I have just fitted including galvanised driver/passenger footwell plates and the old school cage light covers on the front of the vehicle - as well as new door handles and rear mudguards.
I have also painted the cockpit as it had seen better days. There is also a stereo and speakers in the rear cab but they need to be wired up to a leisure battery. The rear cab is empty and does not have the rear benches. It is a good Series vehicle and just a shame that the engine is having some trouble recently - as a result, I think I have priced this accordingly. It can be driven away at about 20mph due to the loss of compression - but otherwise Id advise a trailer.
