It is painted in Land Rover Marine Blue and Limestone. It was first registered on 15/04/1983 and it is an all number matching vehicle. It has undergone a ground up rebuild.
We have plenty of history to come with it, plus a receipt for all monies spent, the V5C is correct and is my wifes name, it was bought as nothing more than a toy for her as a gift. It has never been used off road during our ownership, other than being parked on grass for picnics / walks / shows etc. It has only ever been used by us for pub meals out and general pleasure trips, it has always garaged and kept dry since weve had it. So far it has never let us down. It does draw a lot of attention. The vehicle has been stripped right down to the chassis. The chassis then underwent a complete rub down to metal. All of the rot and rust has been cut out and replaced with fresh steel by a professional welder. This includes outriggers as needed and gearbox cross member. Suspension bushes were then replaced.
The chassis then had a coat of red oxide with two coats of chassis black to follow. It has then had an internal underseal spray with a lighter coat sprayed onto the outside. The vehicle is still on the original factory chassis. Both front and rear axles have also undergone a full rub down and paint proses, the front axle now has one shot grease fitted rather than the oil in the swivels. It also has freewheeling hubs fitted, both work as they should.
The engine starts and runs as it should. It pulls well and when at idle has no fluctuation. A brand new electronic distributor and coil have just been fitted as well as a brand new alternator, fan belt and solenoid.New radiator hoses are fitted including the by-pass hose, plus a recon water pump. There is no smoking from the motor and no popping on overrun.
It also has a Webber Carb fitted. There is a brand new exhaust just fitted front to rear. It has also had a recent sump gasket replacement. The gearbox has had a couple of shims replaced along with a broken spring.
Its nice and tight to drive with no nasty noises or jumping out of gear. All of the four wheel drive kit works as it should. We have replaced the clutch, flywheel and thrust bearing, master and slave cylinders, October 15 with new, and we have then added the overdrive. It works as it should and is silent when engaged allowing the motor to relax back, and 60mph comes up with no problem.
The gearbox, transfer box and overdrive and axles have all just had an oil change. The handbrake has had a new adjuster fitted and has been completely overhauled and works correctly.
The braking system has been completely renewed. Master cylinder, all pipes including flexible hoses, wheel cylinders and shoes are new. It has the double push braking system on the front so benefits from better braking than earlier series vehicles and it stops in a straight line with no pulling. The bulkhead has undergone extensive repair. Both top corners have been replaced, a brand new footwell welded into the passenger side, both bulkhead feet are replaced and the bottom of the O/S leg. It has completely been rubbed back to bare metal treated for rust and has been thoroughly undercoated before two top coats of paint. All four door hinges, mirrors and fixings are new. The body has been resprayed, but we have not had any of the dents that were existing removed.
We did not want the vehicle to be full of filler, but wanted a new but used look to it. It is painted in gloss coach enamel so its easy to touch up if necessary. We have some paint of both colours to come with it. Both door tops are brand new. Hopefully the pictures speak for themselves.
Inside everything works and it has that lovely Landy smell to it. Brand new seats are fitted as are the seatbelts. It has a brand new wheel brace and bottle jack. The door cards are brand new on all three doors. All the doors shut and latch as they should. It looks great and it drives great, in addition it has received in our ownership all of the following items as brand new, fuel tank, sender unit, ignition barrel, shackle and bolt kit, head lights, all other exterior lighting, mudshilds and steering cover all galvanised, all leaver gaiters, wipers and washers, bump stops, complete overhaul of the rear suspension including used but as new springs, brand new dampers and axle straps. It is fitted with a 3.5 ton pinball, 50mm for towing with standard 7 pin electrics. There are 2 sets of keys and many other new parts. Remember this is a Series vehicle that is 33 years old with leaf springs; its not a Defender and doesnt drive like one. Its happy on the road at 50- 60mph after that you are working it hard and thats not what it was designed for. Like all old Land Rovers it does still have some small oil leaks that are custom to these vehicles. A complete change in family circumstance is the only reason for the sale of our vehicle. We would encourage viewing so that your satisfied with the vehicle, and were happy for you to bring your Landy expert along.
