This listing is for a Land Rover Lightweight Air Portable 24v 2.25 Petrol. The VIN number confirms this is a genuine ex-military'Lightweight' (not a'cloned' civilian or rebuilt civilian model) manufactured in 1981 and with first civilian registration in 1999 on a'V' suffix. This vehicle is complete with a current style V5c, registered in my name and is on SORN. A genuine sort of vehicle with many original features and in need of a sympathetic restoration , offered as shown in the images for'spares or repairs' and with no guarantee given or implied.
Ideal as a winter restoration project, any efforts put into this vehicle are likely to be secure, as once restored these models are becoming increasingly sought after. WYSIWYG refer to the images for detail, any other parts, other than the Lightweight, which might be visible in the images are not included. Engine is 2250cc Land Rover Petrol in'services light green' with "reserved" stencil on rocker cover. 24v charging system appears to be complete (no batteries). Original lightweight front and rear axle with'flat end caps' (not been fitted with civilian axles).Front and rear lifting eyes. Front axle swivel sphere gaitors fitted. NATO style indicators, sidelights and stop/tail lights. Under seat twin petrol tanks (untested) with switching tap. Original rear military cross member.
Aerial wiring lids on OS and NS wing tops. Ex WD trailer wiring plug on rear cross member.
6.50 x 16 tyres on standard rims (inflated but condition unknown). Panels are straight, rear tub floor is sound, an estate hard top is loosely fitted (no rear door) as are a pair of decent door tops. Last had this running perhaps 18 months ago and suspect it would not take too much to get it running again.Anticipate however that there will be welding to do to the chassis and bulkhead, currently they do not look too bad but the true extent of repairs likely to be needed, will only become apparent when stripped down. The last MOT for this vehicle appears to be in 2012 so thorough recommissioning will be required, this cannot be driven away, it will require a trailer or recovery flat bed to remove from here. I have no other military history on this vehicle although there is a military plate attached to the bulkhead which gives the service registration number as 52 HG 81.
Ideal for restoration or an entry level into the 4x4 market. A realistic and viable option to old civilian Series Land Rovers, as only a limited number of Lightweights were ever manufactured. Other 4x4 non runners, accident damaged or similar vehicles'for parts' may be considered. Inspection by serious potential buyers only is possible, at a mutually convenient time by arrangement. I will only respond to genuine and serious questions about this vehicle, please read the description fully.
Derisory'offers' for a'quick sale' are not required, I do not'need the space' the Lightweight is'not in the way' and I have not'lost storage'! It is a condition of sale that the V5c new keeper section will be completed at the point of sale and will be sent directly to DVLA, returning to the new owner within a couple of weeks. Note that I will not respond to text messages. The item "Land Rover Series 3 Air Portable Lightweight 24v 2.25 Petrol" is in sale since Sunday, December 9, 2018.
