The chassis and body work are original and in very straight and solid condition. The engine is sweet running and the gearbox operates as it should. The five black Wolf rims fitted with recently new Cooper Discoverer 7:50 x 16's (equivalent) tyres are included in the sale as are the orignal five Goodyear G48 tyres on LWB Land Rover rims.
These ex Royal Netherlands Army Lightweight's differ to home market Lightweight's in many ways such as the diesel engine installed by Land Rover as part of the contract, uprated civilian axles, Hella lights and electronic systems, canvas top with side windows and features a self bleeding diesel fuel system which is unique I believe to these Land Rover's. This Lightweight still has an unused jack, unopened spare bulbs kit, unopened jerry can spout, original tyres, fully operating NATO hitch, convoy lights and heater. I have managed to get the vehicle registered with the DVLA and it has a V5 so the Reg number you see in the photo is correct and V5 has matching numbers to the vehicle. That now makes this vehicle a useable and rare classic Land Rover.Land Rover only made 18,000 Lightweights so are quite rare anyway and production of these stopped in 1984. So it is fair to say, they don't and won't make them like this again! All the documentation I have gathered for the registration process comes with the vehicle because it's a part of it's history! Defenders are common but Lightweight's are not, Land Rover built diesel Lightweight's are rare, very rare! The vehicle is in Settle, North Yorkshire.
