Land Rover Series III county station wagon

  
Replacement Galvanised Chassis, with bolt up crossmember. Original Sundym Glass except Drivers windscreen and passenger door. Replacement window channels and door tops. New tub floor with replacement galvanised cross members. Bulkhead previously repaired and in solid condition, replaced footwells in past. New Exmoortrim seat covers and canvas covers, and wheel cover. Hardura floor coverings and acoustic rear floor covering. Rebuilt steering box with bearings and new shaft/nuts. Recently replaced steering all joints (Lemforder) steering damper and drag link fitted.

Brakes recently serviced with replacement cylinders drums and shoes where needed. NOS zenith carb, not a copy. Three year old Parabolic springs and Pro Comp ES3000 shocks- rides almost as well as a coiler!

All gears work, synchros fine, no jumping out on overun. Upgraded halogen headlights and alternator. Replacement front prop shaft with pinion oil seals. Original 5 Mb Engine runs well, with electronic "performance coil" and Simon BBC distributor. Garage Serviced annually in my ownership.

Running on 7.50 x 16 Avon Rangemaster lwb rims. I have the six 205 x 16 original rims and tyres in scruffy condition, which are included. All internal trim other than seats is original. A few small tears in headlining, but reasonable for age. A few spares including original Fairey freewheel hubs, unfitted rear lap belts, various bits and bobs.

New fuel tank and hoses just fitted, as I noticed the original was starting to weep a bit. Paintwork has been retouched previously in places, it's not concours, but fair for age. Some minor blisters on door bottoms.

Chassis is A1 as you'd expect. A great landrover to use, not too good to fear scratching it, and a sound basis for further improvement if you wish. No idea, basically, but it's less of an issue, mechanical condition far more important, and she's a good'un.

Small puff blue smoke on startup, is usual valve stem seals, but uses almost no oil! Almost no oil/transmission leak (seriously)! Yes I've checked there is oil! 5 months left on MOT, only issue last time was a brake cylinder which has been replaced by garage. There were no seats in the rear when I bought her.

I fitted bench seats in the correct trim, as only used o. Ccasionally, and the dogs prefer them.

Easier to hang your head out the window! We've loved "ELMY" but have recently relocated from a rural community, and she makes less sense here.

She's a great Land Rover, I'm an enthusiast and spent a lot of time looking for a good one with minimal issues. Shes been lightly used, and well cared for by me and our local village garage, who are well used to Landy's. No known mechanical issues, and she drives very well for a series.

The Landrover was located in Dumfries and Galloway, near Castle Douglas. V5 in my name at previous address. Recently made the trip north to near Dunfermline with no problems, and was great fun.

These are the most car like of the series Landy's and end of the production, before the release of the 90/Defender. Quite sought after, and original Factory station Wagons are rare fewer built than series 1s! V5 states it is an Estate which only an original would have.

Masai red is the best colour for these in my opinon, although if you prefer brown... See the links below, this is good value. Going up in value now.

That said, I've put a sensible reserve on. I will liase with a carrier (shiply etc,) but will require cleared funds first. Collection will need to be a Thursday or a weekend, as I work for a living!

If you've not driven a series Landrover, then please consider carefully. Noisy, heavy (relatively) steering, limited top speed , 60mph feels okay. BACS transfer or if you have to, cash.
