Almost 3500 views and 70 watchers!!!! Only just over 19 hours left!!!! Serious and Sensible Offers will be Considered!!! Here is the sale of my my1972 General Service Land Rover Lightweight, an early Series III, and very good original example of this iconic Land Rover. It was developed as an "Air Portable" combat vehicle and originally. Supplied to the Royal Air force, adopting the Military Registration 53AM66. Introduced for service Nov'72 as a Glider Recovery vehicle, it appears to have had only light service in the UK, starting at Biggin Hill, Ash church (training), and retiring in Cardiff, Nov'83.

Combined with a Fairey Overdrive which makes for a very much more relaxed ride - allowing effectively to have 5 forward gears, although can be used between each as a half gear ie. Between third and fourth gear and an additional fifth, if this makes sense!

The radio equipment has currently been removed by myself, as I was a former RM signaller during this era, and placed into secure dry storage. This was to clean, inspect and return to the vehicle at some point but allowing for more room in the rear. I believe the last MOT according to the DVLA website was tested 21. March 2017 - Pass at 39,275 miles. The only advisory was for cracking tyres.

I do like clean oils and also trying different types etc. Despite its very little use in terms of mileage. I have also replaced a seal, resealed the sump since this had a minor leak, and replaced the tyres. Work has clearly been previously done on the vehicle e.

12volt electronic ignition, servo assisted brakes etc. Which I believe was carried out by a local enthusiast and whose details I have re this partial light restoration - this appears from my own enquiries via open source social media etc. The engine fires into life swiftly on choke and the 2286cc petrol engine idles perfectly as well as being very quiet on tick over or when revved freely. It really is a nice drive and the gearbox is very well mannered (for a land rover), with little transmission backlash - you could happily drive this series 3 for hours whilst it not being to much of a workout. It is non-the less, a Land Rover though!

With heavy non-powered steering and built for the military - don't expect a Range Rover ride or anything modern, this is old fashioned fun. Inside, it has a rifle rack, two military seats in the front (all with belts) - separated by I believe a battery/ cubby box and a Smiths flat heater. Military Spec wise, it retains its correct front bumper (with Nato tow hook), two piece. Bulkhead, Wolf door top upgrades, twin fuel tanks (one only used), bonnet mounted spare wheel, rear bumperettes and tow hook, and the correct split tailgate with pioneer tools.

No time wasters/ dreamers or swaps etc.... Please don't waste either of our time! I will not post it or arrange for it to be dropped off somewhere so dont ask? This item is in the category "Cars, Motorcycles & Vehicles\Classic Cars\Land Rover". The seller is "nickyf150405" and is located in this country: GB.
