EARLY / ORIGINAL / OUTSTANDING / UNIQUE / INVESTMENT. If you prefer originality, character and patina to freshly restored "perfection" then read on.. I spent over a year looking for this gorgeous beast. Huge amounts of long trips and hours wasted viewing over-described rust buckets or tarted-up monsters! It's very easy to forget just how much valuable time can be eaten up looking for the right car.
This is the car I'd been searching for. A totally original (Scottish) farm vehicle that looked like it had never been washed. The chassis number indicates it's the 60th Series 2 ever built.
The registration plates on the car appear to be those originally issued. There's so much detail to acknowledge and appreciate from the galvanized hinges on the bonnet to the the original opaque plastic tubing that carries the water to the washwipe. And correct new tyres fitted.I've also had the coachwork professionally "mopped" by a bodyshop to accentuate the original colour and allow odd areas of aluminium to show through. The bonnet has the most show through. The car goes extremely well. The petrol engine and gearbox are uber-sweet. A hoot to drive and seating for 7.
The interior is a joy to behold. Original elephant hide seats in the front. Original matching elephant hide bench seats in the back.
The soft top has that genuine old lovely faded look to it because it's genuine, old, lovely and faded. It keeps the water out and has no holes or tears. Roll the sides and back up and you're ready to go.
Feel the wind in your face. The dash is basic, pure, simple and unmessed with too. MOT'd last July previous MOTs confirm very little use in the past 5 years. Various items were addressed last year by a classic Land Rover specialist to ensure everything is tickety boo.Mileage is indicated at 77K. This can't be verified but it looks about right. Registered in my name at my address this Land Rover is for sale unexpectedly. As Series One Land Rovers regularly achieve stratospheric prices so Series Two Land Rovers represent amazing value. NB Please don't confuse my car with run of the mill old bangers.
It's stunning and very special. A classic Land Rover dealer would be asking a lot more than I'm looking for. Purists seeking originality are very welcome. Time-wasters and tyre kickers will be quickly shown the door. I love early Land Rovers. The August 2015 issue of Land Rover Monthly (LRM) magazine has a 7 page feature about me and my classic Landys focusing on a unique Series One double cab I managed to track down. I'm not a dealer.Just a Land Rover "nut". CALL JOHN ON 07956 570 794 OR 01424 868 168. The item "Stunning 1960 Land Rover Series 2" is in sale since Monday, January 08, 2018.
