Tax Exempt 1967 Land Rover Series 2a Diesel. Almost completed project

  

I had hoped to get my 2a back on the road this year but due to loss of covered workshop space and increasing commitments elsewhere I will not be able to complete the renovation work in the foreseeable future. The 2a is an early 1967 model and appears surprisingly original. The axles are date stamped end of'66 and the engine & box appear to be the original fitment. The chassis is original and has had a new rear quarter fitted professionally, the brakes have also been overhauled (new cylinders/pipes etc).

The bulkhead is a renovated secondhand unit from a late'66 registered vehicle. The wiring has been replaced and most electrical work is complete and functional, the fuel tank has also been renewed. The bodywork is fairly straight but will need finishing as there are currently no door tops and no front mud shields.

I'm fairly sure that the rear tub is a later replacement but it is straight and tidy. The wheels are lwb series type with a matching set of camac tyres, the spare wheel is an original date stamped rim but the tyre has perished. The original date stamped'wide top' radiator is included and does not appear to leak. The remains of the original elephant hide seats will also be included but they are probably only fit to use as patterns.

Most importantly, currently the vehicle is not a runner, the engine turns freely on the crank handle but will not fire. I suspect that the starter motor may be the cause of the problem as everything else seems to be operating correctly off the key. Apart from the non-starting issue the vehicle will require AT LEAST the following to get a test; Rear springs & shocks, Windscreen wiper motors/screen washer, Seat belts, Middle & Passenger seat cushions and probably a few other minor'bits & bobs' To sum up, this has the potential to be a solid usable truck, all the major jobs (welding, bulkhead, electrics, etc) have been done.
